Social Events

The church organises social events throughout the year some are just social such as a Bible Story exhibition or an Angel fest that had over 900 Angels around the church.

We also hold a lot of different fund-raising events both for the church but also for charities, such as the annual Christian Aid collecting. Teddy Bear Picnic for North West Air Ambulance. The church has agreed to raise the equivalent of 13% of our planned income for charities each year.

We achieve this by having a wide selection of events from concerts, Lent Lunches, Harvest suppers, quizzes and retiring collections in church such as during our Christmas Eve Christingle which usually attracts over 200 people. We even go carol singing on Oxenholme railway station.

Our Everest Challenge was suggested by our curate who volunteered to climb the height of Everest by using the steps up our church tower this worked out that he had to ascend the tower 500 times, all within eight days. The money raised was split between the church and International Nepal Fellowship.

Most months except during the summer school holidays, we hold a fund-raising coffee morning usually on a Thursday morning after the mid-week communion service.
