We are delighted that you are thinking of getting married in our church.
The first thing to do is check if one (or both) of you has a qualifying connection with St Mark’s, according to the rules laid down by the Church of England. Everyone in England lives in a Church of England parish and you have an automatic right to be married in their Parish Church. It is now much easier for people to get married in a church, which is not their Parish Church, providing they have a qualifying connection.
A person has a qualifying connection with St Mark’s if:
Either of you:
has at any time lived in the parish of St Mark’s for a period of at least 6 months.
was baptised in St Mark’s.
was prepared for confirmation in St Mark’s.
has at any time regularly gone to normal church services at St Mark’s for a period of at least 6 months.
That one of your parents, at any time after you were born:
has lived in the parish of St Mark’s for a period of at least 6 months.
has regularly gone to normal church services at St Mark’s for a period of at least 6 months.
That one of your parents or grandparents:
was married in the parish.
We would be very happy to hear from you to help plan this special day in your lives. If you would like to arrange a wedding at St Mark’s please use the contact form.
